Any Pentium PC with at least 512 MB of RAM is suitable to run the Parking Manager.

:: Which O/S does the Parking Manager require?
We strongly suggest to run Intertraff Parking Manager on Microsoft Windows XP SP2.

:: Where is the PC installed?
The PC running Intertraff Parking Manager can be installed at a distance of 100 meters from the cameras. For longer distance a video amplifier should be installed.

CAMERA

:: How many cameras does Intertraff Parking Manager support?
The Parking Manager may control up to four lanes of traffic. Four video cameras can be installed contemporarily on each single system.

:: Where are the cameras installed?
For Parking control application we strongly advise to install the camera about two meters behind the automatic barrier.

:: Which camera does Intertraff Parking Manager require to be installed?
We strongly advice you to install a proper ANPR camera such our WalzCAM (Intertraff, all in one Infrared Vehicle License Plate Capture Camera). Electronic IRIS or standard Colour camera cannot be installed as the vehicle head beams would dazzle the camera and hide the number plate to the ANPR software.

:: Which is the maximum camera to number plate distance?
It is crucial to set the size of the image correctly, either by changing the zoom setting of the lens or by altering the camera aim. The width of a number plate should be approximately 25% of image width at the nominal point where it is to be recognized. For Access Control application like the parking management, the distance from the lens to the vehicle plate is usually 3 to 5 meters. In this case we recommend to use a 16 mm lens. For highway or special installations, the vehicle to license plate distance can be increased to 20 meters by mounting a 50mm lens and selecting the right LED.

:: How is the camera power supplied?
It depends by the camera installed. If you have been using a WalzCAM - Intertraff, all in one, Infrared Vehicle License Plate Capture Camera - then each camera will be supplied with a 24 Volts DC PSU (Power Supply Unit).

:: Does the Parking Manager read the number plates during night time?
For 24 hors a day Number Plates recognition you need to install an Infrared Camera.

FRAME GRABBER

:: Where is the frame grabber card installed?
For images acquisition, Intertraff Parking Manager employs a PCI Frame Grabber card with four video input. The card may be installed in any PCI slot. For more information please check the Frame Grabber technical specifications posted at the Parking Manager home page (Product Specification link).

:: How many cameras can be installed on a single Frame Grabber card?
Four cameras can be installed on a single grabber card but please consider that, the card we have been using is capable of capturing 25 frames per second if one camera only in installed; 7 FPS if two cameras are installed; 5 FPS if three cameras are installed; 3 FPS if four cameras are installed. For low speed traffic, such for parking applications, four cameras and a unique frame grabber card can do the job but for high speed traffic and more than one video channel please consider to install one grabber card per camera.

BARRIER INTERFACE BOARD

:: When is a Barrier Interface Board required?
All the time the Intertraff Parking Manager must control the opening of one or more automatic barriers

:: How many barriers can the Parking Manager control?
The Intertraff Parking Manager may control the opening of maximum 4 automatic barriers. Usually one barrier per lane is installed.

:: Who does close the barrier?
The automatic barrier is closed installing a loop on the ground, so anytime a vehicle license plate is read and the registration plate itself not found into the black list, the Intertraff Parking Manager will open the barrier using the barrier interface board. Then when vehicle will have occupied and leave the loop, the barrier will be automatically closed. For more information please read the automatic barrier installation guide.
