Palm PR is an ANPR, Automatic License Plate Recognition, software for Microsoft Windows Mobile.
It can be installed on any PDA running Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC, Windows Mobile 2003 SE or Windows Mobile 5.0.
PalmPR opens up a whole new range of applications, including:
| Street and car park audits |
Mobile vehicle assessments for insurance claims, auction, sales, etc |
| |
| Police Enforcement |
Fleet management and stock control |
Palm PR continuously analyses the live picture looking for number plates. Once a vehicle plate is detected the number is recognized using a series of complex template-matching algorithms and a full image picture of the vehicle and its plate patch is stored on the SD memory card.
The reading result is also compared with the local database to find out if the vehicle is stolen, authorized, etc. The application software can be tailored to any particular requirements in order to provide a customised operator interface.
For images capturing, PalmPR uses a colour camera or an Infrared camera. Both cameras require the PDA to have a compact flash card slot available. While the colour camera can be purchased from any specialized computer shop, the infrared camera was expressively developed for the PalmPR by Intertraff. It’s the first infrared camera available on the market for Pocket PC. To get more information about MiniWalzCAM: Intertraff compact flash infrared camera please access the MiniwalzCAM home page.
To get the Palm PR archives constantly updated, Intertraff has also developed a Windows software application called Palm PR Manager which uploads to any PDA running Palm PR the archives updating. Palm PR Manager may also be used to download and centralize all the data captured by each single Palm PR unit on a Central PC.
