:: What is MMS DVR?
Intertraff MMS-DVR is a software application for digital video recording that works with network and analogue cameras to provide video monitoring, recording and event management functions for up to 16 cameras.
MMS-DVR detects any motion in a set of static images and delivers those changed frames to a mobile phone via MMS. Remote viewing and playback are also possible with MMS-DVR Client. The Client enables remote and easy administration of the software via LAN, WAN or Internet.

:: Does Intertraff license a demo for MMS DVR?
Yes. You may download our MMS DVR 14 day trial.

:: Which software restrictions does MMS DVR demo contain?
MMS DVR demo contains the following restrictions:
1. The trial expires after 14 days.
2. Only 4 cameras can be connected to the demo license.
3. It will record continuously for 4 hours then recording will be stopped automatically and the Operator will need to restart it in order to keep recording.
4. Motion detection analysis works for 8 hours then it’s automatically stopped and requires to be restarted.
5. MMS DVR demo sends 5 MMS per day only.
6. Server does not accept remote connections. This option is not supported by the trial.
7. Demo does not run as a Windows Service.

:: Which Operating systems does MMS DVR support?
Windows XP SP2 is recommended for reliable operation. If you install MMS-DVR on Win2000, please note that Service Pack 4 and DirectX 8.1 or higher are strictly required for running the software properly.

:: How many cameras can be contemporarily connected to MMS DVR?
For up to 16 cameras can be contemporarily connected to MMS DVR Server. Cameras can be analogue or network or any combination of analogue and IP cameras.

:: Which Network Camera does MMS DVR support?
MMS DVR supports many IP camera manufacturers such as Appro, Axis, Canon, DLink, Gadspot, Intellinet, IQeye, Linudix, Panasonic, Pixord, Sony, StarDot, NetCam, Sveex, Toshiba, TRENDNet, VCenter, VCS, Vivotek. There is also a Custom Camera facility which allows users to connect any IP camera which outputs JPEG pictures. See MMS DVR User manual for details.

:: Does MMS DVR connect to Video Server?
Yes it does. Here after the list of Vide Server manufacturers which MMS DVR currently supports: Avip, Axis, Linudix, Pixord, StarDot, VCenter, VCS, Vivotek. . See MMS DVR User manual for details.

:: Which Frame Grabber card does MMS DVR support?
MMS DVR supports Avermedia Argus I, Picolo Pro II and Picolo Junior manufactured by Euresys.

:: For how long MMS DVR Server can record pictures from cameras?
There is no software limitation. As long as the local Hard Disk has free space available, MMS DVR can keep recording.

:: Does MMS DVR support multiple Hard Disks for video files recording?
Yes if a R.A.I.D. board is installed.

:: Does MMS DVR automatically delete the older video files?
There are two options. MMS DVR accepts a minimum amount of free disk space, which once reached, results in the deletion of the older video files to free up disk space. In alternative whenever the minimum amount of free disk space set, is reached, the recording is stopped.

:: Can MMS DVR Operator, playback video files?
Yes of course. MMS DVR has a Player embedded for playback of any video files recorded.

:: Can MMS DVR run as a service?
Yes. MMS DVR runs as a service. This is pretty useful, in case of power break down. Whenever the power supply is re-established, MMS DVR Server runs automatically and the Operator does not need to log into Windows to restart the application. This functionality is not supported by the MMS DVR demo.

:: Which video compression algorithm does MMS DVR support?
MMS DVR does record video files in MJPEG.

:: Does MMS DVR support IP camera which outputs MPEG4 pictures?
Not yet. MMS DVR will support D-link DCS2000 or similar camera which uses MPEG4 compression video algorithm within the second quarter of 2007.

:: How many Frames Per Second can be recorded from each camera?
For analogue cameras, the FPS is limited by the Picolo Pro II or Picolo Junior Frame Grabber boards.
Both cards support four cameras and maximum 25 FPS.
If 1 camera only is installed, MMS DVR would be able to record 25 FPS. Alternatively the 25 Frames will be divided for the number of cameras installed per Frame Grabber.
For IP cameras, the number of FPS which can be recorded, depend on the IP camera itself (see network camera User’s manual to check the camera FPS) and the LAN conditions.

:: What resolution does MMS DVR support for image recording?
- 2048 x 1536
- 1600 x 1200
- 1280 x 1024
- 640 x 480
- 320 x 240

:: How does MMS work?
Through the embedded motion detection algorithm, MMS DVR analyses any motion in a set of static images and delivers those changed frames to a mobile phone via MMS.
For doing it a GPRS mobile phone must be connected to PC where MMS DVR is running.
Operator can also specify which camera is entitled to send MMS alarm pictures, the delay between one MMS forwarding and the other, and the maximum number of messages that the application can dispatch within 24 hours.

:: Which mobile phones does MMS DVR support for MMS transmission?
Any GPRS mobile phone which is able to send/receive MMS can be used with MMS DVR.

:: What’s the difference between MMS DVR Server and MMS DVR Remote Client?
MMS DVR is a Client/Server application. MMS DVR Server is always required for recording and distributing the video signal to Clients. Any MMS DVR Server installation comes with an embedded MMS DVR Local Client which is the “interface” through which Operator accesses and programs the Server.
MMS DVR Remote Client is a piece of software capable of accessing remotely any MMS DVR Server installation via LAN, WAN or Internet.

:: How does MMS DVR record and display the pictures from a remote camera?
If the camera is connected to the Internet through a public IP address such http://81.205.150.70:10001/ then any MMS DVR Server can connect to the camera and display/record remotely the camera images.
In alternative it is possible to connect the camera to a MMS DVR Server installation and if the Server is connected to the Internet through a public IP address, then any MMS DVR Remote Client can connect to the Server and display the camera video signal or playback the video recordings.

:: Can I use MMS DVR to access a camera through out a mobile phone or PDA?
This will be possible in the first quarter of 2007. We have been currently working on a new MMS DVR remote Client which can be executed on Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005.

:: Does MMS DVR require a software activation?
Any MMS DVR software license requires a software activation. There are two ways to run the software activation: “Online activation” and “Manual activation”.
If your PC is connected to Internet then it is better to use online activation. This is very straight forward.
Manual activation should be used only in case no Internet is available on site.
Important information about Software Activation: note that any license key supplied by Intertraff can only be used or entered into the system once. It is therefore important to enter the license key into the MMS DVR registration process only when this is installed on the target PC.


:: Does MMS DVR demo software license need to be activated?
No. MMS DVR demo does not need to be activated.
